Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Clinician Training Series
This series of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) trainings includes a one-day Foundations of DBT training followed by a two-day Skills Training Intensive. Trainings will be conducted in person in St. John’s, Newfoundland by multiple trainers and will include learning through didactics, practice, video review, role play, and feedback.
Broadleaf Health is approved by the Canadian Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. Broadleaf Health maintains responsibility for the program.

Day 1 Foundations: $199.00 + HST
Days 2-3 Skills Intensive: $359.00 + HST
Days 1-3 Foundations & Skills Intensive: $539.00 + HST
Students and trainees: $99.00 + HST per day.

Day 1 (November 15)
Foundations of DBT Part 1
An overview of DBT
DBT’s assumptions about therapy and therapists.
Learning how to “bring order to chaos” in work with clients and prioritize behaviour and emotion according to a DBT framework.
Learning the unique use of Validation in DBT including how to both “Validate the Valid” and “Invalidate the Invalid” according to DBT.
DBT based principles and practices related to managing therapeutic burnout.
Days 2 & 3 (November 16-17)
Skills Intensive Part 1
• In depth review and practice of DBT skills that can be taught in a range of settings.
• Skill modules covered will include: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Dialectics.
• Guidance on how to adapt DBT and skill training to different settings and different client populations will be included throughout the trainings.
ABOUT THE TRAINERS
Broadleaf Health is one of two Linehan Board of Certification Certified DBT Programs in Canada. Broadleaf Health’s multi-disciplinary staff have applied DBT to a range of therapeutic environments including private practice, hospital, housing support, and others.
Our staff also have extensive experience providing trainings throughout Canada. Broadleaf Health staff are registered and/or provide services in multiple Canadian provinces and territories, including Newfoundland & Labrador.
